Sclerotherapy literally means “scar” (sclero)”treatment” (therapy) and is used to treat spider veins and smaller varicose veins.  This can be accomplished with either chemical (detergent) injections or with heat (laser or VeinGogh).

Injection sclerotherapy is the most time tested, least painful, most efficient and cost effective therapy for spider and reticular veins and small varicose veins.  FDA approved medications are injected through tiny needles into the actual spider veins which causes a gentle injury to the lining of the veins resulting in swelling and occlusion of the veins.  It may take months for the closed off veins to be reabsorbed.
